About Woodridge Community Church

Foundation

Woodridge was formed in 1988 by Pastor Dave Mobley, his wife Brenda, and a small group of people from around the Milwaukee area. The church is affiliated with the Great Lakes Baptist Conference (www.glbc.net) and has grown through the years to more than 300 regular attenders. The original goal remains the same now as it was then: to reach out with the message of God's grace and the hope of new life in Jesus Christ to those people disenfranchised by previous church experiences and anyone else who is looking for a place to join a warm and loving church family. Then, now and forever, Woodridge is committed to proclaiming the life, death and ressurection of Jesus Christ through word and deed.

Comings and Goings . . .

Woodridge has a new building at the corner of Sunnyslope and Howard in the city of New Berlin! We are very excited to be meeting in the new facility that God has given us. We formerly met at Heritage Christian School in West Allis, and are truly grateful for the facilities that were so graciously shared with us by our hosts at Heritage.

Our Leadership Structure

We believe in something called the priesthood of the believer. We believe that the clergy are not specifically endowed with any more right of access or supernatural gifting than one of the folks sitting in the chairs. We believe that through the empowering of the Holy Spirit all Christians are given spiritual gifts that are meant to be shared for their benefit, for the benefit of the church, for the benefit of those who have not heard the Good News and for the glory of God himself. Our pastors and paid church staff are unique in that group in that God has called them to minister those gifts vocationally.

Woodridge's leadership model is as an Elder led congregation. Members of the congregation vote to place the elder representatives onto the elder board. This board then works with the Senior and Executive Pastors to develop and carry out the plans for the church, to shepherd the congregation's spiritual growth and to govern matters that are necessarily brought to their attention from time to time.
